Prior to his election to the European Parliament, Thomas Bajada built a diverse and impactful career across youth representation, cultural leadership, and international diplomacy. A two-time candidate for the University Students' Council (KSU) representing the student organization Pulse, he quickly became a prominent advocate for student welfare and democratic engagement. His commitment to youth policy deepened through his role as Secretary General of the Maltese National Youth Council (KNŻ) from 2013 to 2016, where he worked to amplify the voice of young people in national decision-making.
Between 2017 and 2025, Bajada served as Vice-President and Secretary of the Soċjetà Filarmonika Leone AD 1863, one of Malta's most historic cultural organisations. Under his leadership, the society entered a new digital era, spearheading ambitious restoration and development initiatives – including the creation of Gozo's first Conference and Exposition Centre, a transformative cultural and economic project for the island.
His experience in government began with his appointment as Secretariat Officer to the Junior Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights (2017–2019), where he provided strategic policy advice and contributed to national agricultural reform efforts. This was followed by a six-year diplomatic posting as Technical Attaché at the Permanent Representation of Malta to the European Union (2019–2025). In this role, he represented Malta in the Council of the EU, negotiating legislative files on fisheries and aquaculture, and advancing national interests in key policy areas within the EU institutional framework.
